Melvyn D. Baron
Attorney At Law

 Mr Baron, a graduate of UNM School of Law, has practiced law in New Mexico since 1963 and has extensive experience in all levels of immigration law. He has represented medical doctors, nurses, professors, research associates, and other types of clients in immigration matters.

 He has obtained national interest waivers, labor certifications and all other employment based and H-1 visas for clients as well as J-1 visa waivers for exchange visitors and medical doctors. He has successfully secured permanent residence for professors and research associates at the University of New Mexico, New Mexico State University, New Mexico Tech, Oregon State University, University of California, Kentucky Wesleyan and State University of New York. He has also obtained immigrant visas for businesspersons, ministers and religious workers as well as family immediate relative and preference visas. Past successes cannot be an assurance of a future success because each case must be decided on its own merits.

 Mr. Baron has obtained Treaty Investors and Treaty Trader status (E-1,2) for clients who have invested their money in the United States or who are trading with us from treaty countries. Past successes cannot be an assurance of a future success because each case must be decided on its own merits.

 Mr. Baron has successfully represented clients in exclusion proceedings and deportation (now removal) hearings of all types. He further represents people from all depressed countries in political asylum matters and has argued these matters and many others before the Immigration Judges throughout the country. He has successfully appealed and argued cases before the Board of Alien Labor Certification Appeals, the Administrative Appeals Unit, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the United States District Court, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the New Mexico Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. He has also apeared before the other government agencies including the New Mexico P.E.R.A., New Mexico Highway Department, Municipal, Metropolitan, Magistrates, and District Courts all over the state. Mr. Baron has other experience with the Social Security Administration, the Veteran's Administration, the United States Information Agency, and the Custom's Service.  Mr. Baron has conducted seminars and conferences for the Texas Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He serves as the only liasion from New Mexico for attendance at the U.S. Department of Labor meetings. He is the Section Coordinator for the Texas Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He has also been a hearing officer for the New Mexico Department of Health.

Christy A. Baron
Legal Assistant/Manager

 Mrs. Baron has extensive experience in all varieties of immigration cases and general civil litigation. She has assisted Melvyn D. Baron for twenty-two (22) years in obtaining labor certifications, immigrant and non-immigrant visas. She works closely with immigration clients, their employers, and governmental agencies on all immigration matters. She performs legal research, background investigation and preliminary preparation of forms, supporting documents, and pleadings. She is also Mr. Baron's wife and handles the financial aspects of the firm.

Timothy Reardon
Legal Assistant

 Mr. Reardon has eleven (11) years experience as a Legal Assistant and is the past chair of the Legal Assistants Division of the State Bar of New Mexico. He has an A.A.S. degree in Legal Assistant Studies and is presently completing a Bachelor Degree at U.N.M.. He provides litigation support including legal research, background investigation and preliminary preparation of forms, supporting documents, and pleadings in civil litigation and immigration cases. He works closely with clients, attorneys, employers and governmental agencies.

Karen Solomon
Associate Attorney

 Originally of Englewood, NJ, Karen Solomon is a 1990 graduate of Bryn Mawr College, of Bryn Mawr, PA, with an undergraduate degree in English and History of Religion.  Ms. Solomon is a 1998 graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law, Albuquerque, NM, with Dean’s List and Dean’s Award honors.  She is a former State of New Mexico Public Defender, working specifically with defendants with mental health issues, and has practiced Social Security law.  She is admitted to practice in New Mexico and in the United States District Court, and is conversant in Spanish.
